A Misericord (see also, stiletto and rondel) is a long thin bladed dagger used to slip between armored plates and the rings in chainmail to deliver a fatal blow. Sometimes this was a "mercy" strike where a combatant and sometimes a battlefield medic would end a wounded and heavily armored knights suffering by piercing through the armpit and into the heart. The long thin blade was also the closest thing to a sword medieval and renaissance peasants and merchants could wear and wield for protection. As a symbol it can be seen as one of defense and mercy, as well as one of defiance and a threat to power. No matter who you were in the walks of life you were not out of the misericords reach.
Wood charm is finished with mineral oil and carnauba wax polish. (Organic plant derived wax)
